A nice couple, Ron and Joanne Clark took us out in their boat for some fishing. It was a beautiful sunny day and we saw a bald eagle fly overhead. Ron said he had seen one on that lake before and said there is probably a nest nearby. Lexi had the biggest catch of the day, as Andrew likes to joke....she caught me! Right in the chin! No harm done, though.

There was a nice smalltown parade in Newberry, some floats and tractor trailers and firetrucks. The firetrucks watered the crowd. A small plane used for putting out fires flew over the crowd a couple times. For the evening, we went up north to Lake Superior shore to Grand Marais for fireworks. It was about 10:30 until the fireworks started because of how long it stays light.

As a state park, it is managed as a wilderness area, dedicated to preserving its natural beauty and recreational opportunities." From the DNR website

Our lovey Lou turned 4! We waited to have a party when grammie and papa could be here. We ordered a princess cake and she picked a horse balloon to have on her chair.

The lady pushing Lexi is Paulette Polzien. She is Lexi's Sunday school teacher and Lexi just adores her! One lady at church thought Lexi was her daughter because she is always by Paulette's side at church! Paulette is a dear, thoughtful, hosptiable woman and we are so thankful to know her and her family!

We now enjoy living in Newberry, Michigan which is located in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We had a nice visit from Andrew's parents in the beginning of June and we took a couple of day trips to Whitefish Point, a sight to many shipwrecks and a museum and lighthouse, Munising's beautiful falls and shore line, and Grand Marais' pebbly beach.

Lexi has been telling us she wants a yellow dog named Andy! Her daddy had a yellow dog that he named Andy, which is kind of funny because his name is Andrew and he named the dog the same name as himself??? We have been visiting the pound here in Newberry and saying "awww" to all the cute doggies and kitties. Lexi has a talking dog that she got for Christmas and it actually grows and says her name.

We went to the upper peninsula of Michigan last week. We totally and thoroughly enjoyed it! Soon after crossing the Mackinac Bridge, my nostils were filled with the sweet scent of trees. Long straight roads with thick dense forest on both sides were in our view. Snow mobile tracks were everywhere. We were hosted by a lovely couple, Bill and Shirley Williams and throughout our stay had the joy of meeting in several different family homes. Lexi was tickled pink to learn there were horses she could see and feed.
